Measurement method

What the number includes

Your result is the elapsed browser time from the painted signal to the captured input event. It reflects this complete setup, not only the speed of your nervous system.

Paint-aware start

The clock is anchored to the animation frame that presents the green signal.

Down-event capture

Pointer down, Space, and Enter are captured before a delayed click event.

Five visible samples

Average, median, best, variation and flagged outliers remain inspectable.

Hardware still matters

Display refresh, mouse, touchscreen, keyboard, OS load and browser scheduling affect the score.

Broad interpretation

Read the range, not a diagnosis

<180Exceptionally quick
180-249Quick
250-329Typical browser range
330-449Slower
450+Delayed or distracted

These descriptive bands are not age norms and cannot identify a medical or cognitive condition.

Questions

Reaction time test FAQ

Why does my result change between devices?

Each device adds different display, input, operating-system and browser latency. Compare repeated runs on the same setup for the most useful personal trend.

Is a phone result comparable to a mouse result?

Not precisely. Touchscreens and mouse systems have different latency paths. The result records the input class so you can keep comparisons honest.

What happens if I click too early?

It is counted as a false start and the same trial slot restarts. False starts never enter your valid reaction statistics.

Can this test assess ADHD, dementia, concussion, or another condition?

No. It is an entertainment and personal-comparison browser tool, not a validated medical or neuropsychological assessment.

Where are my past results stored?

The latest 20 runs stay in this browser's local storage. You can clear them from the history section, and they are not sent with anonymous product analytics.
